Just want to be...

I just want to be free
Fly over the winds
Burst through the clouds
Wide open the blinds
Break out of the doubts

I just want to be free
Swing over and high
Run around the trees
Let out a sigh
Grasp what the mind sees

I just want to be free
Bounce over the bumps
Bound around the fields
Pull out of the dumps
Tears wash my eye lids

I just want to be free
Swim across the river
Jump over the rocks
Feel the cold and shiver
Let go of the blocks

I just want to be free
See the highs of the high
See the lows of the low
Push the sorrows go by
Winds of joy let blow

I just want to be happy.

Because...

Conversation in the car, after i picked M up from school.
Me: How was your day honey?
M: Good. I had fun.
Me: What did you do at school today?
M: nothing
Me: oh!

After some thought....
M: Mamma, today we were not in outback class, we were in seaturtles class.
(Their pre-school classes have names such as outbacks, sea turtles etc)
Me: Oh, how come?
M: yes, beacuse outbacks was closed, so we were in sea turtles.
Me: oh, why was outbacks closed?
M: because we were in sea turtles!
Me: But, why were u in sea turtles and not in your own class?
M: Because my class was closed mamma.
Me: yes, honey, but why was it closed?
M: because it was not open!!!

Alright fine, i give up then!!

Our very own comedians

This was back when i was pregnant with little S. We had just finished explaining to M about how Mamma's tummy is growing bigger and bigger because there is a little baby in there. She was all amazed and asked a bunch of questions, which we answered for the most part. The next day, after her bath, i asked M to go say her prayers. So we went to stand in front of the gods, and before we could start, M pipes up: "Mamma, i think Ganapati Bappa(lord) also has a baby in his tummy!!!" To make her point, she points out idol's bulging tummy.
Mamma is speechless and daddy is laughing his heart out.
I remembered this inicident today, coz i was waiting at the grocery store in the checkout line and a very pregnant lady with her 2 or 3 year old son were behind me. The kid was a really friendly guy and started chatting with me. After a few minutes, he points to his mother and says, " My mommy has a baby in her tummy" I looked at his mom, and she smiles indulgently. Then he says " I think she ate it by mistake!!" Whoa...I want to burst out laughing, but sneak a peak at his mom, to make sure she wont mind if i laugh. She looks highly embarassed, but not surprised, so i am guessing the little one has pulled this on her several times before.
Kids are such comedians.

Aspirations

The other day my 4 year old daughter M was asked by a visiting relative as to what she wants to be when she grows up. She dint answer then, but later came to me to discuss her career choices.
M: Mama, i want to become a fire Engine when i grow up.
Me: huh what? you mean fire fighter right?
M: nope, not fire fighter Mama, a FIRE ENGINE! the red truck in which all the fire fighters go..that one.
Me: (thinking to myself)oh, right then, i dint know what a fire engine was, but now that you have explained, i support your career choice.

Little kids, Big aspirations!!

Blame it on the baby

So now that i am 5 months pregnant with baby number 2, i have been sleeping long hours. I go in with my daughter M, to put her down at her bedtime, around 9ish and then dont come out at all till Morning!!
So today hubby dear tries to wake me up at around 7:30 in the morning.
Hubby: Your highness, if you are done with your beauty sleep, are you going to wake up now? I need to be at work by 9 and i have to drop you off before that.
Me: uggggg...i am so sleepy...
Hubby: What, you have slept for close to 10 hours now!!
Me: Well, I am sleeping for two....remember that!
I am highly amused at my own witticism and laugh.
Hubby hauls me out of bed. (Gently ofcourse...i am 5 months pregnant after all!!)

realizations about self

I talk a lot, but i am also a very good listener. I know this about myself.
But what i have come to realize now is that these two things go hand in hand for me. Meaning if i am talking to a person or a group of people, i cannot be the only one talking, i need people to respond and contibute to the conversation. Similarly, i cannot be a silent listener, i have to have my say too. In the first scenario, i quickly lose steam and stop talking altogether and in the second scanario i get positively irritated if i cannot get my two words in.
