This was back when i was pregnant with little S. We had just finished explaining to M about how Mamma's tummy is growing bigger and bigger because there is a little baby in there. She was all amazed and asked a bunch of questions, which we answered for the most part. The next day, after her bath, i asked M to go say her prayers. So we went to stand in front of the gods, and before we could start, M pipes up: "Mamma, i think Ganapati Bappa(lord) also has a baby in his tummy!!!" To make her point, she points out idol's bulging tummy.
Mamma is speechless and daddy is laughing his heart out.
I remembered this inicident today, coz i was waiting at the grocery store in the checkout line and a very pregnant lady with her 2 or 3 year old son were behind me. The kid was a really friendly guy and started chatting with me. After a few minutes, he points to his mother and says, " My mommy has a baby in her tummy" I looked at his mom, and she smiles indulgently. Then he says " I think she ate it by mistake!!" Whoa...I want to burst out laughing, but sneak a peak at his mom, to make sure she wont mind if i laugh. She looks highly embarassed, but not surprised, so i am guessing the little one has pulled this on her several times before.
Kids are such comedians.

Aspirations
The other day my 4 year old daughter M was asked by a visiting relative as to what she wants to be when she grows up. She dint answer then, but later came to me to discuss her career choices.
M: Mama, i want to become a fire Engine when i grow up.
Me: huh what? you mean fire fighter right?
M: nope, not fire fighter Mama, a FIRE ENGINE! the red truck in which all the fire fighters go..that one.
Me: (thinking to myself)oh, right then, i dint know what a fire engine was, but now that you have explained, i support your career choice.
